My name is Kevin and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I hold a Master’s in Professional Counseling from Amberton University. I also have a Doctorate in Biblical Counseling.
I have been involved with counseling and coaching for over 25 years. I have worked in churches, community health care agencies and correctional managed care. I believe everyone has a super hero inside of them. People were born with potential and are able to achieve success in every area of their life.
I use a simple approach that helps individuals, couples and families progress toward noticing and becoming the best version of themselves. My methodology is a mix of person centered, solution focused and motivational interviewing.
My focus:
Life Struggles:
Anxiety Counseling
Anxiety comes in all different shapes and sizes. Some have lingering anxiety and some have struggled for a long time. My hope is that individuals and couples who have anxiety would be open to invite hope into the circumstance and all the plan and action to resolve internal conflict bettering themselves along the way.
Depression Counseling
We have all had times in life when we feel sad. Depression is when that time is elongated and feels like we are not able to get to a place where we once were. My hope is that individuals would understand themsevles and identify past successes in their life to build hope and overcome depression in a way that is right for them.
Relationship Issues:
We all face relationships issues such as marriage, parent/child, blended families and intergenerational issues. I focus on coming together and devising a plan to keep respect, communication and hope alive in each person as they progress thru challenging situations. I value the relationship and facilitate conversations that lead to mutual respect and value.
Grief/Loss:
The loss of a family member is never something we want to go through, however, it happens everyday. Sometimes the loss is sudden and sometimes it is a process. Many people equate loss and grief with people who die. There are however a multiplicity of situations where loss occurs and we need time and space to process it. One of those times is when a divorce occurs. The loss and grief of the couple as well as the children can have lasting mental health consequences. Another one is life transitions. This could be moving jobs careers, houses. This could be going from young kids, teens, to empty nesters. There are a variety of ways grief and loss occurs. My hope is to identify ways to process through in a healthy way and include some healthy coping skills that lend itself to the healing process.
SAMA
I help parents, educators and behavioral health companies learn a system that teaches how to de-escalate anger. If a person is in distress and displays anger, it doesn’t make sense to ignite the fire with their own. This system teaches basic parasympathetic principles that help overcome these tendencies and get a better result in the process.
